Cut Bank sophomore Elijah Greene strides along the new Cut Bank Cross Country course used in the season opening meet on Sept. 4. Traditionally the meet was held at the Cut Bank Golf Course, but due to the COVID-19 closure a new course was mapped out taking runners from Sunset RV Park, along Cut Bank Creek to the trestle and back.

Cut Bank High School sophomore Devin Schultz led a tight Wolf Pack to place the men’s cross country team eighth at the Havre Invitational.  Schultz crossed the finish line in 35th, followed closely by Hunter Kennedy in 39th, James Green in 43rd, Rhett Michael 44th, and Elijah Green in 47th to complete the scoring top five for Cut Bank.

The Lady Wolves were one runner shy of a scoring team, but the four who raced all turned in stellar efforts with each chopping nearly two minutes off their previous season best times.  Freshman Kellyn Dunaway led the Lady Wolves, followed by Grace Poulton, Stella Overstreet, and Grace Rooney.

Coach Brian Suttle was extremely proud of the team’s tight pack running and the huge improvements over last week’s race.

This week the CBHS cross country team will journey north to race in Sunburst on Friday, Sept. 18, with a start time of 4 p.m.
