The Cut Bank Lady Wolves will be sending five athletes to the State Class B Track and Field Meet in Kalispell this weekend, including medal favorites Kamdyn Molenda and Dakota Manecke. The duo, previously undefeated in their signature events, both saw their streaks come to an end at Divisionals but will be looking to regain the top spot on the podium this weekend.

Molenda false started in the 100, causing her first loss in the event this season, but the senior set personal records and picked up wins in the other two sprints and placed second in the triple jump. Molenda’s time of 26.82 in the 200 and 1:00.99 in the 400 were both personal bests that earned her wins in the events. She also had a leap of 31-11.25 in the triple jump to place second and opted to sit out the long jump as she had already qualified for State. Molenda has the fastest Class B time in the 400 heading into State as well as the second fastest 100 time.

Manecke cleared 9-06 in the pole vault to place third, the first time the junior hasn’t reached the top of the podium this season. Manecke has the second best height in Class B this season at 10-06 heading into State.

Jackie Waller rounded out the girls’ individual placements at Divisionals with a sixth place finish in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.23. The freshman also narrowly missed out on qualifying in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.95.

Waller and Manecke will team up with Portia Taylor and Brynne Finstad at State in the 4x100 relay after the group finished sixth at Divisionals with a time of 56.17.

The boys’ team did not qualify any athletes for State. However, the young Wolves’ squad had numerous athletes finish just out of qualifying, setting a positive tone for next season.

“The Wolves competed so hard,” said Ehlers. “Every single athlete gave their best that day which led to many personal records on our coldest meet of the year. They peaked at the right time for sure and we are so proud of the athletes. We are excited about our five girls that will be traveling to Kalispell, and bummed for our boys as many of them barely missed out on State. This team is young and they gained a lot from this Divisional experience and I’m already looking forward to seeing what they can do next year.”

Non-placing marks from the Divisional Meet were:

Katrina Ostler 200-30.13*, 800-3:01.91; London Raemaeker 3200-13:13.65*, javelin-83-07; Finstad shot put-28-05*, discus-88-08, javelin-77-05, Manecke high jump-4-04; Hayden Hedges 100-11.9*, 200-24.33*, triple jump-35-08; Henry Gannon 400-58.0, 300 hurdles-45.83*; Kierrin Rooney 1600-5:05.4; Nathaniel Anderson 3200-11:36.76*; Jeremy Gallagher shot put-35-01, javelin-122-02; Jordyn Fields pole vault-11-0. (* denotes personal record).

The State Meet will be held at Legends Stadium in Kalispell and the Class B and AA meets will be happening simultaneously with events beginning on Thursday with the pole vault. Running and Field events begin Friday at 9 a.m.
