The Valier Panthers opened up the 2021 track and field season at the Cut Bank Booster Invitational last weekend. Senior Erica Ramsey started the year off with a win in the 400 to go with a third place finish in the long jump.
Ramsey finished the 400 in 1:09.42, nearly three seconds faster than the second place finisher. In the long jump Ramsey recorded a leap of 14-05 to finish fifth.
For the boys, Sage Spinner and Hyrum Briggs set personal records (PR) in numerous events. Spinner set a PR in the 400 with a time of 58.85, just missing out on placing in the top six. Spinner also competed in the 100 (12.88), shot put (26-10) and discus (54-02). Briggs set personal bests in the 100 (15.08), shot put (31-0) and discus (75-01.5) and had a toss of 74-07 in the javelin.
The Panthers are set to compete at the Cut Bank Pre-Easter Invitational this Thursday before the holiday weekend.
