The Valier Panthers boys basketball team went 0-2 last weekend to wrap up regular season play and will enter the District 10-C Tournament this weekend in Simms as the seventh seed where they will face off with second seeded Heart Butte on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
The Panthers took on Cascade Friday and led 14-13 after the first quarter. The local cagers put up 18 points in the second quarter and extended the lead to 32-28 at the half. The second half belonged to the Badgers however, as they outscored Valier 45-21 and took the 72-53 victory.
Brody Connelly had 31 points in the loss followed by Brett Stoltz with 17. Kamden Broesder rounded out the scoring with five points.
Saturday the Panthers faced off with Dutton/Brady and again got off to a good start, leading 19-16 after the first period. The Panthers trailed 30-27 at the half after scoring just eight points in the second stanza. Valier cut the lead to 37-36 going into the fourth quarter but the Panthers were outscored 18-11 in the fourth and they dropped the game 55-47.
Stoltz led the offense with 16 points followed by Connelly with 15. Broesder followed with nine points and Cam Stoltz rounded out the scoring with seven points.
