Valier senior Brody Connelly puts a shot up over Sunburst’s Josh Kearns last Tuesday night in Sunburst.

The Valier Panthers went 0-2 in a pair of conference games last week as they fell to Sunburst and Simms. The Panthers have a trio of games this week as they look to get in the win column. 

Tuesday against Sunburst the Refiners trailed 15-11 after the first quarter and 31-22 at the half. The Refiners outscored the Panthers 18-8 to lead 49-30 going into the fourth quarter and they cruised to the 64-44 win. 

Brett Stoltz scored 15 points to lead the Panthers followed by Brody Connelly with 12. Rylee Gabbard just missed double digits with nine points, Will Bowmans scored six, Jacob Kuka tallied three and Trenton Tatsey scored two. 

Against Simms the Panthers trailed 32-7 after the first quarter and the Tigers never looked back as they took the 85-30 victory. 

Connelly scored eight points followed by Cam Stoltz with seven to lead the offense. Kuka scored five points, Gabbard and Brett Stoltz scored four each and Bowmans rounded out the scoring with two. 

The Panthers have a busy week ahead of them as they travel to Power on Thursday, Cascade on Friday and return home to host Dutton/Brady on Saturday for the Panthers’ Senior Night.
