A fine, sunny day greeted the boys and girls of Browning High School’s golf team as they arrived at the Ronan Invitational. Following COVID-19 guidelines, the five girls and five boys kept together in their groups as they played the 18 holes, returning to their busses when finished.
Jill Sure Chief led the way for the Browning girls, posting a second place finish individually at 86 strokes and helping the team to a sixth place finish at 439 combined strokes. Brittney Wagner was second for Browning at 102, followed by Brooke Blue with 114, Joslyn Grinnell at 137 and Cassidy Day Rider with 139.
As noted last week, the boys’ team consists of younger players who were led by Benny Kittson at Ronan with 104 strokes. Keenan Rides At The Door was next with 124, followed by Shandon Wagner with 136, Gus Makes Cold Weather at 146 and Josiah Lahr with 156. The team placed eighth at 510 combined strokes.
This week, the BHS golf teams travel to Frenchtown for a two-day tournament, beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2 and 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3.
