The Sunburst Refiners lost a non-conference game to Noxon last Friday night, 32-15.
Noxon scored first taking a 6-0 lead, but Sunburst answered quickly with a Cade Hanson 42-yard pass to Connor Sullivan. Hanson converted the PAT to take the 8-6 lead.
Noxon scored the next 20 points before Hanson ran in a 15-yard score. Noxon added one more touchdown to claim the victory.
Coach Jason Hanson stated, “We were sluggish getting things going in the second half, and never got back into the game.”
Hanson thanked Noxon for making the long trek to Sunburst. “They travelled six hours to come and play us so we thank them for coming this far. It gets harder for some of these small schools to find games close so sometimes we find ourselves going hundreds of miles to play.”
Sunburst will travel to Big Sandy on Saturday to play the Pioneers. “They bring back some good players from last year’s squad, so we need to come out fired up and play like I know these kids can,” said Hanson.
The game will begin at 1 p.m. with the junior high gridders kicking off action at 10 a.m.
