Twenty-two teams, 235 cheerleaders, one LONG night, these are the makings of a great CheerFest. Friday, March 15 the Cut Bank High School cheerleaders stepped on the big blue mat in Lewistown to compete against cheerleaders from around the state. All of the 5:30 a.m. practices and weeks of hard work come down to these three minutes. Step off the mat and it’s minus 10 points, kick a sign or pom pom out of the way minus 10 points, illegal stunts minus 10 points. The only thing they are trying to focus on is cheering loud, hitting their stunts and smiling so hard their cheeks hurt.

The CBHS cheerleaders not only nailed their cheer routine but the all-girl stunt team and the co-ed stunt team that followed just an hour later. Nerves are at an all time high when it is time for the awards. Then the announcement of winners and first place for Class B – Cut Bank Wolves and soon followed by two second place trophies for stunt groups.
