Doig Day in Dupuyer 2019 begins at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, the day that would be writer Ivan Doig’s (1939-2015) 80th birthday. Several young Doig readers, music, birthday cake and vintage photos will be part of the two-hour program.

Ivan Doig wrote, “Childhood is the one story that stands by itself in every soul.” His memoir “This House of Sky” and many of his novels contain coming-of-age stories that resonate with all of us who’ve been there. Two of his novels, “The Bartender’s Tale” and “Last Bus to Wisdom” speak to this transition. Looking back and remembering his birth year, 1939, is also part of Ivan Doig’s 80th birthday celebration.

Dupuyer Community Hall on Gillette Street in Dupuyer is the venue. The hall will remain open until 5 p.m. for visiting and viewing of displays.

Please join the fun in Dupuyer to celebrate the life and work of our local friend and author, Ivan Doig.
