Winners of the Spook Sprint’s youth division were, left to right, Kanin Johnson, third; Kyra Boyles, second; and Taylor Curry, first.

A couple dozen spirited walkers and runners turned out for the Spooky Sprint held at the Stone School Inn in Valier on Halloween morning. Once again, the weather cooperated to allow for a sunny and safe event.

Taylor Curry finished first coming in ahead of all participants followed by the first adult finisher, Emily Leonard.

Youth Results: Taylor Curry, 1st; Kyra Boyles, 2nd; and Kanin Johnson, 3rd. The adult field was dominated by women with Emily Leonard, 1st; Casey Rasmussen, 2nd; and Jessica Spinner, 3rd.

First through third place finishers received awards, but not every winner was a runner. Costume contest winners were a family of dogs, a Viking, and a unicorn. Prizes included a complimentary one-night stay at the Stone School Inn, free registration for the Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon 2021, commemorative Triple P t-shirts, and various other donations.

Participants enjoyed camaraderie, sunshine, and some ghoulish treats while striving to maintain their social distance. Several expressed a desire to Trot on Turkey Day, weather permitting. Watch for details on Facebook and in The Valierian.
