Allie Bradley is thrilled her daughter, Billie Jo, can finally check out books from the Glacier County Library! Billie Jo received her first set of hand-picked books from the library staff last week and that smile of her’s says it all! Allie said Billie Jo can’t wait to actually go into the library and say hi to the “awesome” library staff, especially her favorite librarian!

We want to let our patrons know that we are busily working behind the scenes right now to get the libraries ready for reopening. With budget and staff cuts and also being closed for eleven months we have a lot of catching up to do!

Unfortunately, the Browning Branch Library experienced broken pipes and quite a bit of water damage during the time that the libraries were closed, so it will take a bit longer there to recover from that.

Everyone has been wonderful about keeping track and taking care of the items that they had checked out while we were closed down. We appreciate the many items that have already been returned. If you haven’t quite gotten around to it yet, please remember that the book drop by the alley is now open for your convenience.

Be assured that we take our patrons’ and our employees’ health and safety seriously and we are following CDC and American Library Association guidelines as we handle these many items and get them back on the shelves.

We are happy to be able to begin serving people again, even though it’s limited at this time. If you would like to request any items currently on our shelves, you can go to our Facebook page and click on “Contact Us” to search our online card catalog and see what’s available.

Our phone system isn’t currently working properly so the best way to contact us is to either message us on Facebook or email pgclibrary@hotmail.com and we can get them ready for curbside pickup.

Times for curbside pickup are available Monday–Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please include your name and phone number in your email when arranging for a pickup time.

Some parents are also enjoying checking out “book bundles” for their children. We love handpicking these bundles of 10-20 books for your children with their personal interests in mind.

We appreciate the many wonderful donations which we receive that are in “like new” shape. With our limited budget, this has provided a way to still offer fresh, up-to-date reading material for everyone.

We are now at a point where we can accept larger donations of books. If you have some that you’ve been holding on to; please contact us through Facebook or email to arrange a drop-off time. We have a few newer materials and donations from before we were closed last March that we are still working on “processing” and getting shelf ready so you will have something new to enjoy.

We understand that the past year has been a very confusing and challenging time for people. We look forward to gradually increasing the services we are able to provide and again serving the people of our communities.
