The Pondera County Recycling Coalition (PCRC), in conjunction with the Department of Environmental Quality, is holding an “E-Waste Collection Electronic Recycling Event” on Friday, Sept. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Conrad Community Center, 311 South Virginia, in Conrad.

To ensure volunteer and community health, provisions will be in place to ensure touchless drop-off and social distancing.

There will be no charge for office and personal entertainment electronics, including computers, cell phones, sound systems, printers and other related equipment.

Microwaves will be accepted for a fee of $10. Please remove the glass trays. No other kitchen electronics can be accepted. There will be a fee charged to dispose of most older style cathode-ray tube (CRTs) and console-style television. The charge is $1 per inch or 30 cents per pound. There will also be a charge of $15 for broken liquid crystal display (LCD) screens over 35 inches.

Businesses are welcome to participate and dispose of large amounts of electronic waste–more than a trunk full–but please call 406 Recycling at (406) 449-6008.

According to PCRC’s Carey Monahan, “All materials will be recycled using responsible recycling standards to ensure data security and environmental stewardship.” For those needed to drop off materials before Sept. 18, or for more information, please call Monahan at (406) 289-0990.
