The Glacier County Health Department issued this statement on Friday morning, July 24:

Glacier County Health Department is deeply saddened to confirm the first death of a Glacier County resident related to COVID-19.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the patient’s family and friends,” said Jenny Krapf, Glacier County Health Department Interim Director. “We urge our community to continue to be vigilant and supportive of each other as we work together to protect our most vulnerable.”

The individual was a woman in her 80’s. To protect the privacy of the individual and family members, Glacier County Health Department (GCHD) will not release any further information.

Krapf reported on Friday morning there were five new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Glacier County, bringing the total active cases to 11. This figure includes cases reported to the GCHD by the Indian Health Service in Browning. Cumulative cases in Glacier County to date are 45, added Krapf.

The State of Montana reported 10 new cases in Glacier County in Friday’s update and a total of 12 active cases, but those figures are incorrect according to Krapf, who has been working with the State to correct the data for the past week.
