Election officials from Glacier County were still researching how to address the incorrect ballot issue language that appears on the primary election ballot on Monday, May 11. The error on the Public Safety operating mill levy ballot issue was discovered over the weekend.

Ballots for the all mail ballot election, which is June 2, were mailed on Friday, May 8, by the Glacier County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.

The Glacier County Commissioners approved putting three ballot issues on the primary ballot earlier this spring:

•EMS Operating Mill Levy for an additional $1 million for two years.

•EMS Ambulance Building Mill Levy in the amount of $327,807 for five years.

•Public Safety (Glacier County Sheriff’s Office) Operating Mill Levy for an additional $908,089. This would be a perpetual levy.

When the ballots were printed, however, the language for the EMS Operating Mill Levy appears both under the EMS ballot issue and the Public Safety ballot issue.

Election officials hope to have answers on how to rectify the issue this week.
