Will Cut Bank have its annual Lewis & Clark Festival this year? Maybe.
“It’s really hard to know what our situation will be 40 days from now. If Montana moves into Phase 3, we will know more on how to proceed with our annual Lewis & Clark Festival. But at this time we are just waiting for more information,” said Committee Chair Jenika Sammons.
The Lewis & Clark Committee met with the Cut Bank City Council earlier this month. Both entities decided if Montana is in Phase 3 of the COVID reopening, portions of the Lewis & Clark Festival may be held.
The committee has ordered and received the necessary parade permits. Later this month they should have a better idea if Montana will be in Phase 3 in time for the July 24-25 event.
The committee feels it could quickly put together events such as the annual Guns ‘n’ Hoses softball game, chili cook-off, the Pet and Doll Parade and the Main Parade. Although no bands are currently booked, the committee will make some calls and see who is available.
Some of the vendors may be able to commit upon short notice, but at this time no spots have been reserved. The Burger Barn and beer booth are primarily managed by the Lewis & Clark Committee members and volunteers. Committee mem-bers believe these could be organized quickly.
No buttons will be ordered this year and no advance advertising will be placed. Local donations may be gathered to help cover the cost of the events instead of the button sales this year.
