The petition to recall Glacier County Treasurer Mary Ann Boggs has been accepted by Glacier County Clerk and Recorder Glenda Hall. Elaine Mitchell said she received Hall’s letter confirming the review of the petition on Wednesday, Sept. 9. “You may now begin to gather signatures on the petition, in the exact form as submitted to, and approved by this office,” stated Hall in the letter.
Mitchell said the gathering of signatures will begin on Monday, Sept. 14. Those individuals wishing to circulate or sign the petition should contact Mitchell.
Who can sign the petition? Mitchell explained only those individuals who were registered to vote in Glacier County in the November 2014 General Election may sign the petition. She stressed, individuals did not have to actually vote in that election; they only need to have been registered to vote in order to sign the petition.
A total of 1,098 signatures are needed to “officially file the petition to recall Glacier County Treasurer Mary Ann Boggs,” noted Hall in her letter. “Signed petition sheets must be submitted for verification to the Glacier County Election Administrator by Dec. 7, 2015,” she added.
More information will be available in next week’s issue.
