The Heart Butte Warriors basketball team finished the regular season without a loss on the heels of two road games, beating Conrad Friday, Feb. 11, 79-32, followed by a win over Simms on Saturday, Feb. 12, 94-50.
The game in Conrad gave the team an opportunity to check out the venue where this week’s District 10C tournament will be held.
“We made a good impression on the fans and the administration there,” Coach Kellen Hall said.
The Warriors held the Cowboys to single digits in all but the third quarter.
Riley Reevis led with 23 points, followed by Joe Murray with 16, Jude Reevis 11, Thomas Young Running Crane and Frankie Calf Boss Ribs with eight, Casey DeRoche with three and Vincent Bertelsen with two points.
“It’s a good rivalry,” Coach Hall said of Simms. “The last two district championships have been with them.”
Although the Tigers scored in double figures in all but the first quarter, Heart Butte topped 20 points in all but the second quarter for the win. Riley Reevis led at 19 points, followed by Joe Murray with 18, Jude Reevis 16, Casey DeRoche 14, Marcus Rutherford 12, Frankie Calf Boss Ribs seven and Thomas Young Running Crane with six points.
This week, the Warriors enter District 10C playoffs in Conrad. They have a bye on Thursday, Feb. 17, and will play the winner of the Simms-Cascade game at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.
