Cut Bank International Airport will be buzzing this weekend, from the skies above to the pavement below.

It’s time again for another Montana Fun Weekend, featuring drag races, a fly-in, a car show and a burnout contest.

This weekend will be the 33rd annual car show at the airport and the 18th annual fly-in event to accompany the car show.

The annual event is put on by a group of local classic car enthusiasts, led by retired radio man Roy Nollkamper.

“We just get together several times a year just to get the Montana Fun Weekend planned,” Nollkamper said. “There’s no official group.”

He estimated that it takes around 20 volunteers to make the event run smoothly.

Things heat up Friday night with a wet/dry burnout contest. There will be two classes of competition, with first place taking home $100 and a $50 prize to second place.

After the burnout contest, there will be a showing of the 1973 film “American Graffiti” inside the big hanger. Attendees should bring lawn chairs for the movie, which will begin around 9 to 9:30 p.m.

The Cut Bank Moose Lodge 334 will host a breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
