There will be a shelterbelt and tree care workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Glacier County Annex conference room (1210 E. Main, Cut Bank, MT 59427). There is no cost to attend but an RSVP to email@example.com or 873-2239 is requested.
Marty Metz, USDA-NRCS district conservationist, will cover planning a windbreak. Marty will share tips for choosing trees for the local area, designing a plan for a shelterbelt and layout considerations. Kari Lewis, Glacier County Extension Agent, will cover planting trees and long-term care of trees, including shelterbelt renovation and tree pruning.
The program will wrap up with Kim Stoltz covering ordering trees from the Montana Conservation Seedling Nursery. Order forms and tree inventory lists will be available for anyone interested in ordering trees from the state nursery for conservation purposes. Orders must be placed by mid-March to receive free delivery, but earlier ordering ensures better inventory options.
The program is sponsored by the Glacier County Conservation District, USDA-NRCS in Glacier County, and MSU Extension in Glacier County. For any questions, please contact Kim Stoltz at the Glacier County Conservation District at firstname.lastname@example.org, Kari Lewis at the Extension Office at 406-873-2239, or Marty Metz at the NRCS at 406-873-5618.
