Glacier Care Center (GCC) has long-term care and assisted living residents in Cut Bank. The facility started its Letters to Santa program to make sure every resident has at least one gift under the Christmas tree. And thanks to the generosity of the Cut Bank community, residents have never been disappointed on Christmas Day.

“We have the most wonderful diverse residents, each with distinct stories, wants and needs. We are trying to make the holidays just as special as these people are,” said Activities Director Cindy York. Starting this week, you can stop in or call, if you would like to take part in the Letters to Santa gift-giving. Call the GCC at (406) 873-5600.

The profile includes pertinent information about a resident, but not their name, only a number. The profile does include the resident’s wish list and some interests they may have. It also includes any dietary restrictions as well as his or her clothing sizes.

Some of the most requested items residents regularly ask for are magnifiers, cardigan sweaters, night gowns, sweatshirts/pants, or a subscription to the local newspaper or their favorite magazine. Other frequent requests include soft-centered chocolates, but only if that is allowed on the resident profile.

After choosing a resident profile, you can purchase a gift or two and return to Glacier Care Center by Wednesday, Dec. 21. You can wrap or place your gift in a gift bag or just bring it in and we can do the wrapping. Please attach the original resident profile to the gift when it’s returned, all instructions are attached to each resident profile.

You are not obligated to purchase all things on the list, nor are you expected to spend beyond your means.

If you wish your gift to be tax deductible, attach the receipt with your name and address so we can send you the charitable giving letter. Thank you in advance for your generosity and thoughtfulness in giving back to community elders, it means more than you will ever know.

For questions, please contact Cindy York, GCC Activities Director at 406-873-5600.
