The Valier Panthers were taken down by the Big Sandy Pioneers, 48-14, on Friday, Oct. 15. The local gridders will close out the regular season in Centerville on Saturday before heading to the playoffs next weekend.

“The energy and atmosphere leading up to the game was awesome,” said head coach John Briggs. “I had a really good feel all the way up until the end of the first quarter. We started strong, had a brief lead and then it all just kind of went sideways.”

Briggs noted, “We’re still trying to put it together, trying to figure it out. But I feel like we are making progress. We just need to figure out how to take the next step and get over the hump that keeps us from competing with the teams at the top of our conference.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game in Centerville is 1 p.m.
