The Lady Indians returned to the diamond last week in Cut Bank as the 2022 season begins. The team hosts its first game of the season on April 4 with Conrad as the guest team.

The 2022 Lady Indians softball team joined other teams in Cut Bank on a beautiful early spring day to play six games against assorted opponents on Saturday, March 26.

“The girls played pretty good,” Coach Jim Vaile said. “With repetition and practice, they’re good at times. They got a lot of practice in Cut Bank and know there’s things to work on.”

The coach reports having 33 athletes turn out for softball.

“Most of our starters are back, which is good,” he said. “We just keep getting better, and we’re ahead of schedule.”

One player Coach Vaile is watching is sophomore Natalee St. Goddard who had a good season with the Lady Indians basketball team.

“It’s her first season, but she looks like a veteran with her throwing, catching and batting,” the coach said. She joins Susan Connelly who is this year’s starting pitcher.

This week, the Lady Indians are off to Havre on Saturday, April 2, for games that start around 1 p.m. The Lady Indians’ first home game will be against Conrad on Monday, April 4.
