Brook Blue made a solid hit against Cut Bank in the first inning of the home game last week, then stole her way back to home plate, seen here, scoring one for Browning.

The Lady Indians had just one varsity game last week, and the weather made sure it was a challenge all by itself. Both Browning and Cut Bank’s players were decked out in their warmest gear, along with the fans who cheered them on. Not only was it around 40 degrees, the wind off the mountains was very strong.

“We had a couple of players injured and didn’t play with our regular starters, but we had a chance to put in our younger players who did a good job,” Coach Jim Vaile said. “We continue to improve each week in different areas of the game, and I can’t wait and see when the girls put everything together in a complete game - we will be a team on the rise and hard to beat.”

This week the Lady Indians have a full slate of games, beginning Tuesday, May 3, when they go to Conrad. Then on Friday, May 6, they host Polson at the BHS diamond; JVs start at 4 p.m., varsity at 6. To end the week, they’re off to Columbia Falls on Saturday, May 7, where the JVs start at 1 p.m., varsity at 3 p.m.
