“We’re super deep this year and really fast,” Coach Kellen Hall said of the Heart Butte Warriors basketball team this season. “Joseph Murray is a good returning senior,” he said. “He’s a six-foot-four guard who can make threes and score inside. Then there’s Kyle Seitern, a full court de-fender and a great player.”

Coach Hall also notes senior Frankie Calf Boss Ribs as a good all around center who stands six-foot-three, and finally Marcus Rutherford, who he believes is “the best senior on the Reservation.” Unfortunately, Rutherford suffered a fractured upper arm over the summer. Coach Hall said he’s been working on rehabilitation and has hopes of being able to play this season.

Other players to watch for include Thomas Young Running Crane and Riley Reevis, as well as a transfer from Cut Bank, Casey DeRoche.

The Warriors will open their season at the Billings Metra, along with both Browning basketball teams, at the All American Indian Shootout. Their first game will be on Thursday, Dec. 9, against Two Eagle.

“I can’t wait to get the ball rolling,” Coach Hall said “I just want to see what we’re capable of at game time.”
