The Shelby Coyotes boys basketball team closed out 2021 in Fairfield with a 57-51 conference victory over the Eagles.

The Coyotes held a slim 14-12 first quarter lead in a close, hard-fought game. The Coyotes only lost the lead once, but the game was tightly contested. Shelby took a 27-23 lead to the locker room. Shelby outscored Fairfield 30-28 in the second half to claim the win.

Shelby was led by Rhett Reynolds with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Kyle McDermott added 16 points. Randon Richman put in 10 points and had three steals. Trenton Emerson added six points, eight rebounds and five assists. Kolby Lohr dropped in five points and Taylor Parsons rounded out the scoring with three.

Shelby will host Choteau on Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The Coyotes will then hit the road for a game with the Columbia Falls Wildcats on Jan. 8. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
