After five years of coaching Valier football, head high school John Briggs has decided to step down. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

To the community of Valier:

After much thought and contemplation, I have decided to step down as the head football coach.

It has been my privilege to have represented Valier football in one capacity or another for the last five years. I am deeply grateful for the time I was able to spend in Valier and the relationships and memories I made there are something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I am incredibly grateful to those who have supported me over the years, including my family, Athletic Directors Michelle Beck and Adrianne Van Alstine, Superintendents Craig Widhalm and Julie Gaffney, school board members, elementary and high school staff and teachers, and finally the parents, players and community members.

This was not an easy decision to make. But I feel that at this time it was the right one for me personally.

I wish the future coaches and players success and hope they can continue to build on the foundation we started.
