Sunburst sophomore Carter Enneberg floats in for a layup against Foothills Christian.

The Sunburst Refiners boys basketball team played the Foothills Christian School on Dec. 21 and came away with a 62-50 non-conference win.

Sunburst took a quick 15-9 lead in the first quarter and behind Josh Kearns’ 11 second quarter points extended their lead to 38-20 at the half. The Refiners’ lead shrunk to nine points at the end of the third but the hoopsters went on to claim the 62-50 victory.

“I liked our first half and thought our second half left a little to be desired, but I hope we learned from it and can keep getting better. We’ve got a lot to work on over Christmas but I like how we’ve been playing and hope we keep on keeping on,” stated head coach Nate Aschim.

Sunburst will travel to Valier on Jan. 4 for a 7:30 p.m. game and then will be home against Heart Butte on Jan. 7 with another 7:30 p.m. start time.
